Cinematrik
Profile · HMREst. 2005

Tim Holt, the Tennessee producer who records as Cinematrik and, before that, as his boy elroy. A film-and-television composer by trade, he turned that soundtrack instinct on Boom Jinx's Flicker for the digital edition of HMR006.

Cinematrik is Tim Holt, working out of Franklin, Tennessee. He spent years writing themes for television, film, national radio, and corporate work before turning that craft loose on electronic music full-time in 2005 under the name his boy elroy, the alias that later became Cinematrik. The composer's habit never left the records: his remixes tend to treat a track as a scene to be scored rather than a dancefloor tool to be rebuilt.

That stretch put him in the middle of the early Creative Commons remix scene, including The Fine Art of Sampling, the contest Wired ran with Creative Commons off the back of The Wired CD.

His Flicker remix arrives on the digital edition of HMR006 rather than on the 2007 12", sharing the release with mixes from Shiloh and Joel Armstrong.
