Darius Kohanim’s journey in music began over a decade ago as a drummer in an experimental band in Atlanta, GA. After years of playing with live acts, his creative vision outgrew the role of simply “dropping beats.” Drawn to the wider sonic palette of electronic music, he shifted from drumming to DJing, and eventually to production — a move that would become the core of his artistic identity.
His reputation first took root during a two-year residency at Club Illusion, where his hypnotic sets earned him a loyal following. When the club closed, Darius retreated to the studio, dedicating himself fully to crafting original music. The result was a sound that is both deep and driving — abstract, atmospheric, and richly textured, designed to pull listeners into a trance-like state where energy and emotion collide.
A pivotal moment came with Panopticon, his collaborative project with Habersham and Ben McPherson. Their debut release Revealing the Door landed on Dave Seaman’s renowned label Audiotherapy (Dec. 10), and immediately gained high-profile support from John Digweed on his Kiss 100 radio show. The buzz marked Darius as a producer to watch, opening doors to a wider international audience.
Beyond Panopticon, Darius continues to carve out his own path with a growing catalog of originals, including seven self-released tracks available on edmdigital.com and many more awaiting release. His music resists easy classification — often described as deep, ambient, techy, and progressive — but what defines it most is its immersive quality. Each track is built with intention: to hook the listener and carry them somewhere new, balancing ethereal atmospheres with relentless, chugging energy.
Relentlessly driven and passionate about his craft, Darius remains committed to making music that both moves the body and expands the mind — leaving his imprint on the dance music landscape one track at a time.
